Eugenio Euripides Longoria, 89, of Zillah, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 25, 2018 after succumbing to Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on January 20, 1929 in Panuco, Vera Cruz, Mexico, to Romulo and Francisca Longoria. The Longoria Family moved to southeast Texas when he was five months old. In his youth, Eugenio was a Golden Glove boxer, and worked in his family’s construction company building wooden oil derricks. He met the love of his life, Elma Rodriguez, in 1954 and married her on June 12, 1955. The Longorias moved to the Yakima Valley in 1961. Eugenio worked for the Morrison Co. for 35 years as well as U&I Sugar Company. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Buena and the Buena Community Church. He was a devout Christian who loved the Lord, his wife of 63 years, and his family. He especially enjoyed attending all of his kids’ and grandkids’ sports activities and events. Eugenio is preceded in death by his parents, Romulo and Franscisca, granddaughter, Taylor Anne, sisters, Raquel and Guadalupe, and brothers, Romulo, Arnoldo, Joel, Max, David, Eleazar, Ruben, and Elias. Eugenio is survived by his wife, Elma, son, Eugene (Rebecca) Longoria, daughter, Enedelia Longoria (Loren) Gomez, son, Eddie (Emily) Longoria, son, Eloy Longoria, and daughter, Clarissa Longoria (Tim) Hutchinson, and daughter, Beatriz (Gerald) Peronovic, and siblings Raul Longoria, Olga Garza, and Anna Maria Hollingsworth. He also had 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The family would like to recognize Carmen Brown for her constant and unwavering support. We would also like to offer special thanks to Joyce Nobbs, Olga Villalobos, caregiver, Maria, and hospice nurses Shelby and Belinda. Celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Interment will follow immediately at Zillah Cemetery. “This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” Psalm 91.
