Ethel Lucille (Spencer) Sams, 95, of Selah, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013. She was born January 8, 1918, in Berwyn, Nebraska. She was the oldest of 11 siblings. She attended a one-room school in Rose Valley, Nebraska. She married her childhood sweetheart Lee and they were married August 24, 1938. In 1956 they moved to the valley with their three daughters. Ethel worked at Baileys Sportswear aka The Jacket Factory. She also worked in housekeeping at both Memorial and St. Elizabeth Hospitals. Later in life she and Lee joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their marriage was solemnized in the Seattle Temple.
Ethel enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband. She also enjoyed needle work, and simply spending time with her friends and family.
Ethel is survived by her daughters, Donna (Stewart) Thompson, Carolyn Queen, Elaine Simons; grandchildren, Dianna (Scott) Jones, Dan (Sherry) Thompson, Alex Carman, Loren (Heather) Queen, Travis Carman, Julie Queen; 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee, brothers Howard and Dick, sisters Vivian, Viola, Kathleen, Darlene and great grandchildren Michael and Andrew Jones.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 25, 2013, at the Valley Hills Funeral Home with Bishop Robert Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in West Hills Memorial Park.
