Erwin Strawn

Gene Strawn, 84, of Yakima, passed away on January 14, 2014 at Crescent Healthcare in Yakima. He was born to Luther and Nina (Parnell) Strawn on December 9, 1929 in Willows, CA. Gene married Roberta Virginia Calfee on October 5, 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy for eight years before moving to Yakima where he began to work for Coca-Cola. He retired after 30 years in the warehouse then moved to Selah where he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was a very hard worker for his entire life and was active up until his passing. Helped maintain Pomona View and keep it beautiful and he was close to many people there. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Roberta Strawn of Yakima; daughters, Colleen Burdett of Oregon, and Trilby Wolfe of Yakima; grandchildren, Gina, Lindsey, Heather, Chanelle, Michaela, Dylan, Rio, and Chris; and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tangi Nelsen, and his son, Rick Brown. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 12:00 noon at One Life Family Worship, 3414 Tieton Dr. in Yakima with potluck reception to follow at the church.
