Ernest Allen Barsten (Allen)

Ernest Allen Barsten, known to his family and friends as Allen, was born on June 7, 1948, to Ernest Adolf Barsten and Mary Elizabeth Gilsinger. 

He passed away on August 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was 78.Allen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a man who found joy in the people he loved, the memories they made together, and his lifelong passion for cars.Allen shared a special bond with his daughter, Kimberly, who was his pride and joy. He loved being her father and treasured the many memories they made together throughout the years. Alan's love of cars was something he proudly passed on to Kimberly, and some of their most special times were spent together at car shows, sharing their appreciation for beautiful cars and enjoying each other's company. Those moments were more than just outings-they were memories that Kimberly will carry with her for the rest of her life.Allen found the love of his life in his wife, Charlotte. Although theirs was his second marriage, the 22 years they shared were filled with love, companionship, and a deep bond that made Charlotte incredibly special to him. They built a life together and stood beside one another through life's joys and challenges. 

In Allen's final moments, Charlotte was holding his hand, allowing him to leave this world surrounded by the love and comfort of the woman who had shared 22 years of her life with him. Their love and devotion to one another will remain a beautiful part of Allen's story.Allen also cherished his grandchildren. They held a very special place in his heart. Some may call them step- grandchildren, but with Allen they were simply his grandkids. The time he spent with them created memories that will be treasured by his family for generations. Being a grandfather gave Allen another opportunity to share his love, his stories, his humor, cars, shows and music of yesteryears, and the things that mattered most to him. His grandchildren will always carry a piece of him with them.

Allen is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte Barsten; his daughter, Kimberly Rios and her husband, Santiago Rios, his stepchildren, Sarah Lowrey-Deveny and her husband, Paul Deveny, and Jesse Lowrey, his brother, Willy Barsten and his wife, Marlene; and his cherished grandchildren Marcus Lowrey, Kierra Lowrey, Zachary Burch, Mariah Lowrey, and Gabriella Deveny.

Allen will be remembered for the love he had for his family, his passion for cars, and the memories he created with the people he loved. His family will forever cherish the time they had with him and carry his memory in their hearts. Though he is deeply missed, his love lives on through his wife, daughter, step children, grandchildren, and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

There will be a memorial service and celebration of life on October 10, 2026 at Bethel Nazarene Church in Yakima WAIn lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to pulmonary fibrosis foundation in memory of Allen.
