Born on January 27 of 1951, Enrique’s life was lived fully and unregretfully until the
very age of 74 years old; May 23 of 2025 is when he peacefully passed away at home surrounded
by his children, grandchildren and loved ones.
Unlike most, Enrique filled his days with long haul truck driving and casino visits. Truck
driving was never seen as a job but rather as a classroom on wheels for his grandchildren to learn
the importance of simple moments together. And while he may have delivered those lessons with
stubbornness and always wanting his way, the importance of those memories will remain.
It was clear that he wasn’t just a gambler; but rather a risk-taker, always ready to roll the
dice. Like the thrill of gambling, he loved his children Ricky, Tanya (Carlos), Lenny and Fernie
fiercely, in his own unique and unconventional ways. While not picture perfect, his biggest
accomplishments in life were his children. His children would like to personally thank their
mother, Vita, for continuing to stick by his side through the very end.
Though he is no longer physically here, he will continue to live throughout his
surviving children and grandchildren. He gave them the gift of attitude and stubbornness, a
frustrating but admirable trait. Let this be the lesson; be your authentic self. His spirit will
forever be remembered around the poker table and on an open road. Here’s to a life lived on their
own terms - may his life inspire yours to be lived to the fullest.
As we say our ‘see you laters’, let us remember the memories that were created with him.
The joy that flourished within. Let us also remember that Enrique loved to travel alone - in this
travel, let him feel at ease. As the miles continue to pass, he was not only survived by his
children - he was survived by his grandchildren. Here are some things that will forever be within
his grandchildren’s hearts; “Papa Enrique’s cheesy jokes, his free swimming lessons, the time hestopped at a hotel for free wifi thinking it was food.”
With that, we continue to reminisce about the memories created. The time where he was hospitalized and came running from his room
because he heard us mention hamburgers, or the countless times he never told us no. Among the
lessons taught to us, our Papa Enrique wanted the best for us even if that meant not following in
his footsteps. He knew the risks he had taken to get him where he was at, he wanted a better
pathway for us - a true hero.
