Obituary

Elwyn Lee Roy Golladay, age 81, of Yakima, WA, passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Thada Golladay; his brother, Ron (Rhonda) Golladay; his sisters, Janet (Cecil) Poe and Linda (Larry) Glessner; and his grandson, Jesse Davis.

He is survived by his brothers, Wes (Sue) Golladay, Max (Anita) Golladay; his sister, Shirley (Renae) Pedraza; sister-in-law, Rhonda (Ron) Golladay and numerous nieces and nephews; his children, Michelle Higgins, Kathy Davis, and Tracy (Shannan) Golladay; his grandchildren Kayla (Miller) Crowley, John Davis (Caitlyn Quigley), Nathan (McKenzie) Higgins, Renn Kay Bush, Judah (Wendy) Gonzalez-Higgins, Lincoln (Dove) Golladay, Harper Golladay, and his great-grandson Ronan Higgins.

Elwyn was born April 30, 1945 in Beloit, Kansas to George and Thada Golladay. In the mid 1950’s their family moved from Kansas to Central Washington. Elwyn graduated from Kittitas High School in 1963 and went on to attend Centralia College and Central Washington University.

After college, Elwyn joined the military and proudly served his country while stationed in Germany. During his service Elwyn received special honors. After returning home, he went on to work highway construction in Washington State and then successfully farmed in Mattawa from 1974 until he retired. He served in public service in Mattawa, and was known for his integrity, generosity, and hard work. Elwyn was also known as a mentor to many men.

On November 30, 1968 Elwyn married his love, Dawn Beck. He was known for saying he was “near perfect” anytime he was around Dawn.

Elwyn greatly valued his relationship with his Lord after dedicating his life to God in 1972. In his later years, he could often be found somewhere in the vicinity of his church, Christian Life Center, carrying out quiet acts of service. Throughout his whole life he quietly served wherever he saw needs, from meeting people's individual needs, to organizing community to help others.

Elwyn was known for his hugs, cheering on friends and family at sporting events, and his many unique sayings such as calling his grandkids “turkey lips”, saying “I got a hand like a foot” when getting a bad hand while playing cards, and shouting “Here’s to the good guy!” with his fists raised in the air when he was proud of someone. He loved well, and was loved well. He will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations be made in Elwyn's memory to Love In The Name of Christ of Yakima Valley. (226 South First Street, Yakima WA, 98901)
