Elvia Figueroa Ochoa, 62, of Sunnyside, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 26, 1962, in Coalcomán, Michoacán, Mexico, Elvia built a remarkable life filled with love, resilience, and unwavering positivity. She delighted in nurturing her family, instilling in them the values of hard work and the importance of education. She leaves behind a legacy marked by her independence, joy for life, and boundless affection for her family and friends.

Elvia was a proud mother to Llesenia Ramos, Rudy Velazquez, Judy Velazquez, Joel Velazquez, Elvia V. Delgadillo Figueroa, and Juan Fernando Delgadillo, Jr.; a loving grandmother to Trinidad Suarez III, Miya B. Velazquez, Rudy Velazquez, and Alexia Velazquez; a aunt to numerous nieces and nephews; a devoted daughter to Eulogio Figueroa Orozco and Maria Luz Figueroa; and cherished sister to Rigoberto, Raul, Javier, Martin, Gregorio, Osvaldo, Asael, and Yesenia Figueroa, and the late Sergio Figueroa.

Her numerous accomplishments include owning her own business, purchasing a home, becoming a U.S. citizen, helping her parents gain U.S. residency, and instilling a strong work ethic and values in her children. Elvia found joy in livestock sales, traveling to Mexico, farm life, music, dancing, camping, swimming, and most of all, being with family. Elvia was the heart of her family. Her faith showed through her generosity to the local Catholic Church and St. Jude’s.

A visitation will be held Monday, August 11, 2025, from 4–7 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside. A Mass will take place Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Grandview, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Proverbs 31:31: "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."

Elvia’s love, hard work, and legacy will live on in all who knew her.
