Ellen Pryor

Our Loving Mother Ellen L. Pryor of Union Gap, Wash., passed away joining her husband Larry (Pappy) Friday December 22, 2023. A loving mother of five surviving sons, Larry J, Ike, Roy, Jeff & Lloyd, a grandmother of Six and great grandmother of Ten. Ellen was born on April 24, 1936, in Troutdale, OR and growing up in the area, she delighted in telling stories of growing up on a farm that’s now Oxbow Park. Ellen and Larry married in 1955 and moved to Yakima in 1961, founding Yakima Ambulance. Mom loved car racing and following Larry and her son’s car racing, rodeo, school teaching and many other adventures. She loved her time at Yakima Speedway and Tri-City Raceway. One of her long times passions was a group of racing wives, The NASCAR Gals, from the early 60s to late in her life she attended meetings and loved all the members. With Yakima ambulance Medic 1 she was a certified first responder and took many BLS trips and loved telling stories of, she also worked in AR and Dispatch. She loved traveling, trips around the country, to Hawaii and wintering with Pappy in Bouse Arizona. She Crocheted and donated many hats for newborns to local hospitals. She loved her cats. Ellen was Pappy’s caretaker in his final years and loved doing so. Mom succumbed to a short illness and was attended to by family members before passing. Ellen will be missed by Family and Friends.
