Elizabeth Virginia Rivard (Briski). Surrounded by her family, Elizabeth Rivard passed away on October 14, 2016 at the age of 81. She was born July 11, 1935 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Jacob and Barbara Briski. She moved to Yakima, Washington as a young girl. She graduated from Marquette High School where she met the love of her life, James Rivard Sr. Betty and Jim were married on December 19, 1953. They lived for a shot time in Ohio while Jim served in the U.S. Air Force. After his service Jim and Betty returned to Moxee and bought a hop farm from Jim’s father. In Moxee they raised 5 children: James II, Mary, John, Lisa and Pauline. Betty spent many years in the food service industry and was best known for her role as the manage of the Holiday Inn in Yakima, WA. She was always willing to give people a chance and was rewarded by the hard work of all the employees she hired. Her work ethic was passed on to all her children. Betty loved to fish and always sat on the passenger rear seat of the boat. Her fishing pole which was hand picked by her father in Bismarck, ND always caught 3 times more fish than anyone else’s pole. Her pole is still being used by her children and grandchildren and soon will be used by her great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim; her parents Jacob and Barbara Briski; her sister Kathleen Briski Olin; a granddaughter Elizabeth Lam (Fulk) and sons-in-law Bryce Moore and Gene Fulk. She is survived by her children James II and his wife Gail; Mary Moore, John and his wife Sheri, Lisa (Lam) Fulk, and Pauline Liebert and her husband Steve. She is very proud of her grandchildren: James Rivard III and his wife Megan, Michelle Clifton and her husband Ryan, Stephine Surgeon and her husband Donny, Jennifer Christensen and her husband Michael, Ashleigh Kilgore and her husband Brett, Danny Lam and Jessica Liebert. She was also very touched by her great grandchildren: James Rivard IV, Maliah and Grady Clifton, Tyler, Eli, Ryker, Easton Surgeon, Natalie and Nathan Christensen. Mom, Dad is waiting for you in Heaven for more adventures. Memorial Service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on November 12, 2016 at 10:30 am.
