Douglas Lee Grenz was born to Larry and Ina Grenz, on May 11, 1963, in Yakima, Washington.
Doug spent nearly all his life growing up and living in Zillah, Washington where he graduated from in 1981. During high school, Doug played football and basketball. He also spent much of his free time as a kid deer hunting, fishing, and hanging out with his longtime friend, Donny Mengarelli, and best friend Larry Wolf.
Doug started his work life at Logan’s Feed in Toppenish, Washington right out of high school. He then started work September 1987 at WestRock (fka KapStone, fka Longview Fibre), where his brother, Greg also worked. When Doug wasn’t working, or helping on the family farm, you could find him fishing on the Klickitat River or more recently, the Columbia River. Fishing was his passion, which he shared with his dad, daughters, and many friends.
Doug is survived by his father, Larry Grenz. His daughters Shelby (Tanner) Winckler, Lexie (Tyler) Brown, and Madison Grenz (Daniel Payne), all from Zillah. His sons Cody Garza (Hailey Marie), Johnathon Gallaher (Sandy), all from Freer, Texas. Brother Greg Grenz, from Yakima, Washington. Grandchildren Leighton and Truett Winckler; Booker Brown; Raelynn, Caleb, Cash, and Reid Garza; Jojo, Easton, Kaylee, and Kylie Gallaher. Doug is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many family members.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ina Grenz, and his son Blaine.
There will be a celebration of life, January 20th from 2-5:00 pm at The Warehouse in Zillah. This celebration of life is no longer a potluck, there will be food provided, we would just like everyone to come and share their fond memories of Doug.
Doug will be greatly missed. FISH ON!
