Dorothy (Thalheimer) Potter
Dorothy was born in Toppenish, WA on June 25, 1929 to Henry and Magdalena (Heilman) Thalheimer. She passed away October 1, 2018 at the Cottage in the Meadow.
Dorothy grew up in the Harrah/Toppenish area graduating from Toppenish High School, Class of ’47. She was the middle child of 5 and had a special relationship with her brother Hank, with whom she honed her sense of humor. At 19 she married Norman (Dutch) Potter and they were together until his death in 1974.
Dorothy was highly regarded by her employers for her bookkeeping, secretarial and managerial skills through the years until her retirement at age 70. Dorothy was passionate about children and enjoyed a special bond with her great granddaughter, Melanie, and great grandson, Wyatt. Dorothy loved her flower gardens and would rather buy a plant than eat.
Survivors include her daughters: Cindee Hudson (Jerry) and Deb Sears; 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She is also survived by her sister M.J. Hogan and brother Robert Thalheimer. In accordance with Dorothy’s wishes a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donation in her memory, because of her love of children, may be made to the YWCA Family Crisis Program.
