Dorothy Marie Stewart, age 55, passed away on September 26th, 2025. Born on June 22nd, 1970 in Toppenish, Washington. She now reunites in spirit with her parents, Debrau Miller & Emanuel Saenz; grandparents, Dorothy Miller & Morris Miller Jr; & all of her ancestors. She is survived by her husband, Mitchell Stewart Sr.; daughters Gabriela Miller & Jacinda “Peesh” Lovely; her sons, Emilio Miller, Tomas Martinez, & Mitchell Stewart Jr.; her sisters, Denyse Sampson, Dawn Lustre, & Annaweinita Miller; grandchildren, Neiamonie Hill & Gabriela Miller Bettles; several nieces and nephews; & many others whom she took under her big & beautiful, loving wings.
As a Yakama Nation tribal member, she carried the spirit of the wild woman, she wore the tallest bun & her heart on her sleeve, was strong in her faith & was unapologetically herself. Dorothy was such an inspiration to those around her. She was a homemaker who was often found elbows deep in fry bread dough at her family home, surrounded by loved ones waiting for her delicious meals to be done. #MadeWithLove, she always said. Dorothy enjoyed crafting, sewing, beading, reading bible scriptures, listening to Worship music & 80’s classic rock. She loved a clean & good-smelling home & going all out with cute holiday traditions for the little ones to create the best memories. She was also known as an earth angel whose food brought healing to the community of people who struggled with addiction & or did not have a home—the Great Mother of the lower valley.
She will be deeply missed by all of those whose lives she touched. Her generous heart was big enough for everyone to feel the incredible love that she embodied. Each time God blessed her, she multiplied it & shared it with others every chance she got. Dorothy will continue to live on through her recipes, stories, & teachings. May her fearless spirit be wrapped in peace and may her legacy continue to bless the world she so courageously walked through.
Services will be held at Toppenish Longhouse. Dressing/ viewing will start at 10 am on September 29th, non-denomination services from 4-6pm, overnight services to follow at 7 pm. Burial will take place at Methodist Cemetery in White Swan at sunrise on September 30th.
