Dorothy (Dottie) Elizabeth Hunt passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Cottage in the Meadow September 3, 2018.
Dorothy was born on October 29, 1940 to Raymond Aloysis and Victoria Philomina (Bigge) Molter in Fort Myers, FL. She graduated from Fort Myers Senior High School in 1958, and served her Country as a Navy Wave, honorably discharged in 1962.
Dorothy met the love of her life, Harlan Hunt while in the Navy. They married in 1962. Together for over 50 years, they shared 7 children together. Dorothy and Harlan were stationed around the world and they eventually settled back in the Yakima Valley in 1971.
Dorothy was a homemaker until the 1980s when she began working for the Eagles Retirement Home and eventually Crescent Convalescent.
Beautiful inside and out, people would describe Dorothy as generous, independent, pleasant, accepting and full of grace. Dorothy would call herself blessed. She enjoyed many things over the seasons of her life: bowling, cards, reading, tv, music, sports and her dog Pup. Of all the things Dorothy enjoyed, she delighted in her family most.
She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Victoria; husband Harlan; sisters Marie, Bernice, and Frances; brothers Joe and George; and son Paul.
She is survived by her children Tami (Doug) McKay, Mark Hunt, Victor (Julie) Hunt, Karen (Rick) Woodall, Ralph Hunt and Jacob Hunt; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson on the way.
Family and Friends will remember Dorothy's sense of humor and her willingness to do whatever was needed. When her body wouldn't allow her to be active, you could always count on her to intercede for you in prayer. Catholic in a sea of Nazarenes, ultimately Dorothy was a member of the Body of Christ.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held September 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Church of the Nazarene. A Mass in her memory will be in Fort Myers FL. In lieu of flowers consider a donation to your favorite charity.
