(Dorothy) Alice Besel Hagerman
October 23, 1929-November 27, 2017
Alice was born the first of twelve children to Leo and Lizzie Besel in Hardin, Montana. She spoke only German when she started school. Later she was forced to drop out to work in the fields. Writing poetry, earning a GED much later in life, and then a realtor’s license meant a lot to Alice.
Cecil Hagerman and Alice were married New Year’s Eve, 1949 and raised five children: Steve, Stretch/Rick, Tess (Jack Clowe), Tom and Sue (Don Lorton). Alice was a homemaker who would have passed anyone’s white glove test and excelled at baking-especially pies and cookies.
She loved Jesus and served children in Sunday School, often providing rides to many. Alice enjoyed bowling with a team of great friends.
After Cecil passed away in 2014, Alice lived with her son, Tom, in Cowiche. There God completed His good work in her, even as Alzheimers took away our mom’s mental and physical health. She grew sweeter to the end, often saying “thank you” and “bless you” for our assistance. We know mom is with Jesus now, restored beyond our comprehension.
Alice is survived by all of her children, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 8 siblings and numerous other relatives.
