Dorothy Becker, 78, passed away February 24, 2014. She was born on July 7, 1935 to John & Mary Lang in Medina, North Dakota. Their family moved to Toppenish, Washington in 1947 where she graduated high school in 1953.
On February 6, 1958 she married Otto Becker and they moved to a small farm in Zillah, where they raised their two daughters, Debra & Diana.
Dorothy worked at Stokley’s potato processing plant for 24 years until its closure, and then in a few years settled into her position as a clerk at the Zillah Food Center for 25 years until she retired in 2005.
Dorothy loved spending time with family and friends, gathering with family for the holidays, taking vacations with her daughter, Debra, helping friends, and activities with the Zillah Senior Citizens & Zillah Quilt Club. She always looked forward to spending time with her granddaughter, Tiffany, from the time she was born in 1986 to current.
She enjoyed gardening – raising vegetables to enjoy and share, and her flowers. She spent endless, gratifying hours quilting - and made many beautiful quilts & wall hangings for family, friends and charity.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters: Debra Butler of San Jose, CA and Diana (Rob) Derrey of Yakima, WA; granddaughter, Tiffany Derrey, of Moses Lake, WA; brothers: Walt Lang & Marvin Lang; sister, Liz Corey; and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents John & Mary Lang, and siblings: Archie Lang, Edwin Lang, and Linda Roedell.
Services will be held at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah on Thursday, February 27th at 2:00. A dessert reception will follow at the Zillah Civic Center. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah is in care of the arrangements.
