Dorothy Afaga

September 7, 1932 — November 19, 2017

Dorothy Pearl Hill Afaga, born to Arthur and Gladys Hill, of Yakima, Sept. 7, 1932, passed away peacefully in her sleep, and was carried home in the loving arms of Jesus. Dorothy lived in the Yakima Valley her entire life, where she had met her husband Senador, and they farmed for many years, in the Wapato area. Dorothy and Senador had and raised three children, Senador Afaga Jr. (JR), John Andrew Afaga (Johnny), and Barbara Jean Afaga. She was a tender, loving mother, grandmother, and a great grandmother. Her children and grandchildren brought so much joy into her life, and she lit up with every visit. She was quick witted and caught everyone around her by surprise, causing a great deal of laughter. Mom enjoyed being with family and friends for holiday get-togethers. She loved her game shows, piecing together puzzles, crossword puzzles, playing rummy and kanasta. And not forgetting to mention, when a family member or friend was in need, or lacking, she gave generously, freely, and from the heart. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Gladys Hill, husband Senador Afaga Sr., sister Helen Sowder, brother-in-law Ted Sowder, and daughter Barbara Jean Afaga Bryan. She is survived by her sons Senador Afaga Jr., and John Andrew Afaga, grandsons Andrew, Ryan, and David, two great-grandsons, granddaughter Mckenzie Bryan, and brother Jerry Hill. Mom, you are an inspiration and a treasured gift from God. You will be dearly missed by your family and friends. You will forever be in our hearts. Your son John Your family Your friends “We will always love you!” To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Dorothy Afaga, please visit our flower store.
