Obituary Dora D. Gutierrez Dora Diamentina Gutierrez, 72 of Sunnyside WA, passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2014 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. She was born August 23rd 1942 in Edinburg Texas, she is preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Alicia (Maltos) Castilleja, Grandmother Guadalupe Maltos, Brother-in-law Benny Pina, nephew Ricky Castilleja, Father-in-law Gilberto Gutierrez and Mother-in-law Juanita (Gonzalez) Gutierrez. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Noe Gutierrez of Sunnyside, WA; two sons, Joe Gutierrez of Sunnyside WA, Lino Gutierrez of Richland WA, his wife Tiffany Gutierrez of Richland WA, two grandchildren Anthony and Arianna Gutierrez of Richland WA. 4 brothers; Ralph (Jeannie) Castilleja of San Antonio, TX, Walter (Mary) Castilleja of Grandview WA, Arthur (Dolores) Castilleja of Seattle, WA, Slavador Castilleja of Grandview, WA and one sister Maggie Pina (Romeo Ybarra) of Sunnyside WA along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Dora and her family moved to WA from Texas in 1947 as migratory seasonal workers. They lived in Outlook then moved to Grandview WA where they made their home. She attended and graduated from Grandview High School in 1961. In 1962 she completed and was the first ever ruling queen of the Latin American Fiesta in Grandview, WA June 19, 1962. Shortly thereafter she graduated from Cosmetology School of Beauty in Seattle WA. During her time in Beauty School she completed and won numerous 1st place awards for her talents in hair design. Before getting married she enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii. For many years she worked for beauty shops in Sunnyside WA including the First Lady. She then opened “Dora's Salon of Beauty” which was very successful and she loved although due to fire to her salon she moved her services to her home. She did hair from her home for many years for her most loyal clients. She also worked for the Sunnyside School District for 23 years, as a Para Educator with Sandy Pascua who both were deeply loved by all the children they worked with and staff at Washington School. Dora enjoyed making her picks for Sunday football games and would get so excited if one of her teams would score even though the game just started. Dora’s sons were her pride and joy for many years. She would have tacos ready for them to go to games to make sure they wouldn’t go hungry and a couple extra for their friends. Finally getting her daughter through marriage (Tiffany) Dora was gifted her new found passion. Her grandchildren was that new found passion and she would routinely talk about them to anyone if they would lend an ear. There’s nothing she wouldn’t do for those two. Her grandkids were definitely her WORLD Recital of the Holy Rosary will held 6:00 pm Thursday November 6, 2014 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am Friday November 7, 2014 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside with a reception to follow at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside.
