Donald “Don” LeRoy Johnson, 86, of Yakima, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2015 at the Cottage In The Meadow. He was born on April 7, 1929 in Yakima and grew up in Cowiche. He enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge. He married Lorry on August 13, 1949 and they enjoyed over 66 years of marriage. Don worked for the WA State Employment Security Department until his retirement in the early 1990’s.
He is survived by his wife, Lorry Johnson, and their daughters, Sonya, and son in law, Ken Teele, and Penny and son in law, Mike Mortensen. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Nathan, Collin, Benjamin, Christian, and Madison Mortensen. Don is also survived by his sister in law, Jean Rudser, and many beloved nieces and nephews in the Fritsch and Rudser families, as well as being survived by the Barry Dunn family. He is preceded in death by his sister, Adelaide Rowe, and brother in law, Vernon Rudser.
No formal services are planned. A private inurnment will be at the Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Valley Hills Funeral Home is caring for the family.
