Delvin Householder

Delvin “Del” Leroy Householder Delvin Leroy Householder age 91, long time Valley resident passed away October 13, 2016 in Sunnyside Washington. Del was born February 25, 1925 in Roy Idaho to Lou and Lena Householder. He married Delores Marie Duff November 4, 1942 in Yakima WA. Delores passed on July 16, 2000 after almost 58 years of marriage. Del enlisted in the Army and proudly served as a machine gunner in the Pacific Theater, including Okinawa, Leyte and Philippines. Among his awards were 2 Bronze stars and a purple heart. Returning home, the family lived in Bremerton where Del worked as a jointer in the shipyards. In 1957 the family moved to Sunnyside to begin his long career as a farmer. He helped build Priest Rapids Dam and also had his own Barber Shop at Valley View Market in Sunnyside. He and Delores were long time members of the Lutheran Church. Del married Pairlee Treat on April 18, 2001. Del loved to entertain people with his harmonica. He played for people every time they were out and about. His dream came true when he played “Amazing Grace” at the WWII Memorial in DC June 4, 2015. Del was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife; Pairlee Treat, Three Sons; Lee (Dagmar) of Sunnyside, Doug (Dotty) of Elk WA, and Allen (Mary) of Sunnyside WA, also 5 grandchildren, 11 great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed! One of a kind, We love you. A special thanks to granddaughter (Nurse) Jennifer Sanchez for her daily visits and devotion she gave her Grandpa this last year. Viewing and visitation will be held 9:00 am – 11:00 am Monday October 17, 2016 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 noon Monday October 17, 2016 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside followed by graveside services at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sunnyside. A reception will be held following graveside services at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside.
