DeLois “Dee” Mathews went to her heavenly home on December 23, 2017, at age 77, from her home in Milwaukie, Oregon. She was born on August 28, 1940 in Marietta, Oklahoma to Claude and Gladys Adams, the fourth child in the family of three boys and five girls. Dee moved to the Yakima area with her family when she was a young child and began attending the Apostolic Faith Church. Over the years she taught Sunday school, played her violin and sang in the choir. On June 19, 1957 Dee married the love of her life, Bobby Lee Mathews, in Yakima, where they lived for over 50 years, raising their family and working and volunteering in the community. She retired from the Del Monte Cannery after working there for many years. She then went to work at Manhasset Specialty Company, where she helped with the production of music stands. In 2009, due to the passing of her husband, Dee moved to Milwaukie, Oregon. Dee is survived by her son, Marshall Mathews of Puyallup, Washington; her son and daughter in law, Brad and Delores Mathews of Milwaukie, Oregon; her daughter, Kim Encinas of Yakima, Washington; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Amelia Winter of Yakima, Washington and Wanda Waldron of Galveston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee, in 2009. Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 28 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Yakima Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home (2600 Business Lane). The funeral service for Dee will be on December 28, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
