Debra “Debbie” Rose (Young) Mitchell

Debra “Debbie” Rose (Young) Mitchell passed away on May 30, 2016 at her home in Roosevelt, WA. Debbie was born in Sunnyside, WA on September 18, 1956 to Donald Young and Patricia Meyers. She was the second of 5 children. She spent her early childhood years in Sunnyside, WA and later on in Mabton, WA. She graduated from Mabton High School in 1975. She later graduated from Trend Business College in Yakima, WA.
In 1973, she married her first husband Dennis Carter. They were blessed with two wonderful sons, Jason (1974) and Justin (1978). Debbie later went on to marry Dean Mitchell in 1985 and they treasured the last 30 years together.
She worked for many years at Berns Tavern in Prosser WA, Valley Truck Repair in Sunnyside WA, and most recently at Republic Services in Roosevelt, WA. She was a hard worker and had various jobs throughout the years.
Family was Debbie’s greatest pride and inspiration She enjoyed making memories with family and friends and lived life to the fullest. She especially loved spending time with her seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. She looked forward to the holidays so she could spoil them just a little extra.
Debbie was incredibly accepting to all and always took the time to truly get to know each person that crossed her path. She always had a smile on her face and could light up a room. She loved to sing karaoke and dance the night away. A few of her favorite pastimes were camping and fishing. She enjoyed it so much so that she named a special island on the Columbia River “Mitchell Island.”
Debbie is preceded in death by her youngest sister; Teri Cant.
She is survived by her parents, Donald(Donna)Young and Patricia Meyers: husband; Dean Mitchell; 3 siblings, Cindy(Tom) Mains, Shelley Walters and Bill Young: 2 Children, Jason(Challis) Carter and Justin (Katie) Carter. 7 grandchildren, Chantel, Isaiah, Elijah, Micah, Lailah, Norah, and Tessah. 1 great-grandchild, Carmyn and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Valley Hills Funeral Home on Saturday June 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM located at 531 S. 16th st in Sunnyside WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ECAN Esophageal Cancer Action Network by going to www.Ecan.org Condolences may also be left on Debbie’s online memorial book at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
