David Miller

January 12, 1934 — March 9, 2023

David Lee Miller, age 89, passed on March 9, 2023 at the Toppenish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 12, 1934, in Yakima, Washington. He was the oldest of two siblings, who preceded him in death, Richard Miller, and Pauline Maier. After graduating from high school, David met and married the love of his life, Blanche Lorraine Regeimbal on June 16, 1954, together they shared many beautiful years until her passing on August 27, 2010. Dave and Blanche had six children. Their eldest, Jeanette Cardenas, passed on September 17, 2021. He is survived by his children, Diane and Dan Andreas, Glenn and Anita Miller, Camille and Tim Coupel, Brian and Cheryl Miller, and Lorraine and Andy Barrows, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. For years, David worked as a wine sales representative for Yakima County beverage. While working a full-time job, he at one time, operated a gentleman's farm, raising cows, chickens, and turkeys. Later he bought an orchard, farming, apples and pears in West Valley. He was an industrious young man teaching his children to love whatever the land had to offer. He gave to the community as well, joining the Lions Club and volunteering for community events for many years. He was also an Eucharistic Minister at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for 20 years. When he retired, he enjoyed cruises and vacations with family and friends. He was a competitive sportsman, playing golf, tennis and pickle ball. He was a smooth dancer on the dance floor, winning several dance competitions in his early years. He was also an avid card player. He loved to play whist, cribbage, bridge, poker, and any other challenging card game, but he mostly loved a cagey game of pinochle. Although David had many ups and downs in his life, he played well with the cards he was dealt. He was a loving and caring, father and grandfather, making sure to teach respect for the good word of our Lord. Teaching respect for loved ones and strangers, as well as protecting family and property. He wanted all his children to be prepared for the game of life. This included taking the time to teach a granddaughter self-defense moves against unwanted advances. David lead a life well played. We will miss our dad greatly but it's time to say, seee you later, until we meet again. And when he is playing pinochle with Saint Peter at the pearly gates, and if he loses, we are likely to hear "oh fuzz buckets" from the heavens above. Then, when it's time to reunite, we can be assured it will be in his words "game on"! However, for now, we sent him off with all our love and blessings. Here on earth we'll continue to hold you in our hearts. God bless and rest in peace, David Miller. We love you. A Celebration of Life will be held March 18, 2023 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Terrace Heights starting at 1pm, with a graveside service to follow at Calvary cemetery on March 21st at 10:30 AM for those who wish to join.
