David Raymond Batin, born August 30, 1946, passed away surrounded by his wife, son and family on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Dave was the youngest of four children born to Pete Batin and Violet Kahama Batin of Wapato, WA. David and Katherine were married at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, October 16, 1976. David was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation; he attended and graduated from Wapato, High School in 1964. His career path started with working on the family farm and attending Yakima Business College where he earned a degree in accounting. He secured a job with BIA Realty and Yakama Nation Land Enterprise. David was a quiet and kind person that never had harsh words to say about anything or anyone. He enjoyed fishing and bird hunting with his dad and brother, listening to his favorite country music and singer Carrie Underwood and reading books on his Kindle. He was an avid Seahawk fan who looked forward to Game Day. David is survived by his wife Katherine Hoptowit Batin of 41 Years, a son Drew, brother Pedro Batin (Martina), sisters Juanita Yadao and Vicki Mandac (Don), his god son Marlon Batin, goddaughters Terri, Marianne, and Stacy McKay and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete Batin Sr. and Violet Kahama Batin, Nieces Anita Batin Patterson and Debi Yadao Zaring. Viewing will be Friday, October 12, 3-7 pm , with the rosary starting at 6 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Wapato, WA. Services Saturday October 13 at 9 am at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Wapato. Interment at the Reservation Cemetery in Wapato with dinner to follow at YNCHC Winterlodge in Toppenish.
