Obituary for David Pete Aleck SR.
With heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of our beloved David, who’s bright spirit, warm laughter, and deep love for those around him will forever be cherished.
David had a way of finding peace and joy in the simple beauty of life. He loved to fish, spending most of his time fishing on the Columbia River and
Klickitat Falls. Summers were often spent camping with Sophie, creating memories under open skies, sharing stories by the fire and picking huckleberries until their fingers turned purple. Nature was his comfort and he moved through it with the kind of appreciation only a gentle soul carries.
David loved his family fiercely. Whenever he could, he’d stop by his auntie’s and uncle’s home — always welcomed with open arms and always bringing light with him and would always end his visit with“ I love you Auntie or I love you Uncle." His friends knew that same warmth, and many followed him there just to share in the laughter and closeness that surrounded him.
But nothing meant more to him than time spent with his son, David Jr. His pride for his boy was unmatched, and being a father was one of his greatest joys. The moments they shared — simple, loving and full of meaning — will remain treasured forever.
David served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, a commitment he carried with deep pride. His service reflected his strength, loyalty, and dedication to something greater than himself. David was deployed and served one Tour of Duty during Operation Desert Storm.
Though our hearts are broken, we will continue to hold close the memories of his kindness, humor, and the way he made life feel a little brighter just by being near. David’s journey on this earth was far too short, but the impact he made will remain with us always.
May he rest in peace, surrounded by the same love he gave so freely.
He is survived by his son, David Aleck Jr.; his mother, Stella ; his brothers, Everett, Jim Jr; and Leon; his granddaughter, Kennedy. David was preceded in death by his companion, Sophie Gefre, his father, Jim Aleck Sr, sister Denise Aleck Heemsah, his niece Juliet Dill and his grandparents, Charles and Margaret Gwinn; David and Melvina Aleck, and Bertha Sheldon.
