Darrol Pearcey

February 11, 1942 — July 24, 2014

Darrol W. Pearcey – Passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 24, 2014, in his home. He is survived by his wife Lawanna Pearcey and 6 children: Clay (Linda) Pearcey, Donna (Zach) Nurss, Brenda (Scott Taylor) Pearcey, Matt Pearcey, Kayla (Joe) Pearcey, Rae (Jake) Moran, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Rob Pearcey, son Darrol Gene Pearcey and grandson Jett Pearcey. Darrol was born in Ontario, Or, on February 11, 1942, to Robert and Alice Pearcey, and delivered by Hatti Pearcey, his grandma. They moved around during his childhood and finally settled near Gaston, Or, where he helped build the log house with his dad and family. He met his beautiful wife Lawanna at the Carlton Assembly of God where he attended church and played music at the age of 17. They were married on August 16, 1961, and moved to Washington where they finally settled in Yakima and raised their 7 children. He farmed all over the valley along with his own apple orchard most of his life. He was a great mechanic, carpenter, and repairman; you name it and he could fix it. He was a strong, caring, and loving husband, daddy, grandpa, and friend. He was always helping someone and never turned anyone away. He loved his family unconditionally and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was an amazing, hard-working man up until the day he passed. He never let a day slip by because he considered it “burning daylight.” He loved spending time with his family and friends camping, fishing, hunting, and watching westerns – “Head ‘em up and move ‘em out,” he always said when it was time to go. He touched many lives and is deeply missed. He loved the Lord and is a great loss here on earth but Heaven’s gain. We love you Daddy. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014 at 2Pm at the Tampico Community Church, 23031 Ahtanum Rd, Yakima. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima is in care of the arrangements.
