Daniel Larry “Catfish” Hooper died on November 3rd in Richland, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Robert Hooper and Elizabeth Sullivan Hooper on February 22nd, 1945 in Portland Oregon. Daniel moved to Richland, Washington with his parents as a child. He attended school in Richland, and graduated from Columbia (Richland) High School in 1964.
In August of 1967, Daniel was drafted into the Vietnam War, and served there as a sergeant for two years, earning himself the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Laborers International Union of North America. Daniel spent his life as a laborer, doing road construction, and working for many years as a hydro seeder at Wildlands Inc, in Richland.
Daniel is proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Hooper. He is survived by his sister, Cherie Leaton, of Salem, Oregon, Son, Benjamin Hooper of Kennewick, Daughter Alicia Kinzer and Husband Bob of Burien, son Dory Hooper of Bothell, daughter Shelley Hooper of Richland, grandson Wyatt Kinzer of Burien, and granddaughter Katie Kinzer, of Burien.
Funeral services will be held at Christ the King Church in Richland, Wa on Saturday, November 9th, at 1:30 p.m. Horse drawn carriage procession will follow to Sunset Memorial Gardens, with military honors. Tributes can be sent at www.valleyhillsfh.com
