Cynthia Jensen

July 7, 1948 — October 25, 2017

Cynthia Marie Jensen went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 25, 2017. Cindi was born July 7, 1948 in Seattle and was adopted shortly after by Ben and Kathryn Thorson (Sullivan). She was raised in the Seattle area and graduated from Lake Washington High School in 1967. She married William F. Van Kemseke on November 3, 1972 in Kirkland, WA. They had 2 children together – William B. Van Kemseke (Andrea), and Angela M. Smith (Jim). They divorced in 1978. Cindi married Clyde E. Jensen on October 29, 1988 and together they raised Cyndi’s children. She worked mostly in receptionist and office roles during her working years, her joy and enthusiasm making people feel comfortable when they spoke with her. After she could not work anymore she spent her time cooking, usually entertaining large groups of people. There are many stories of how she opened up her home, her heart, and her life to make someone else’s life better. Cindi and Clyde spent most of their retirement years investing in their grandchildren’s lives. She was especially close to her two oldest grandchildren Kyle and Zek, and they loved and cared for her deeply. Those who knew Cindi knew her to be one of the kindest, most loving, and most accepting of all people. Holiday dinners at her house were filled with people that she knew needed a family, needed extra love and she made sure that they felt part of the family. Even though she was in either a wheelchair or walker over the last ten years of her life that did not stop her ability to love and be loved by the many “sons” and “daughters” that came through her life. Cindi enjoyed giving and volunteering at church and various military functions, home decorating, and most of all spending time with family and friends. Cindi is survived by her loving husband Clyde, both children, 7 grandchildren: Kyle Van Kemseke (Jessica), Zekariah Pitts, twins Anthony & Tanner Smith, Andrew Van Kemseke, Jacob Van Kemseke, Grace Van Kemseke; and 2 great grandsons: Jaxon, Brody; 2 sisters: Sandy Ryser (Ron), Debi Anderson; and her best friend Marguerite Rose. A Memorial Service is planned for 1:00 p.m. December 2, 2017 at Open Bible Church. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Cynthia Jensen, please visit our flower store.
