CYNTHIA (CINDY) LOUISE DAVIS FUERST
Our beloved Cynthia Louise Fuerst, age 82, went to meet her Lord God and Savior on December
12, 2025. She was the oldest child of George H. and Shirley L. (nee Scott) Davis, born in Seattle
on July 1, 1943.
Cindy’s family moved to Oregon where she spent her childhood in La Grande, Bend, and
Portland, Oregon with three younger siblings Gary, Chuck and Debbie. She attended Bend High
School until her Sr. year, when the family moved to Portland and she graduated from Franklin
High School. She married in 1961 and lost her first son Scotty J. in 1963 but then was later
blessed with daughter Teresa and son Michael. Shortly later she divorced.
Cindy attended Clackamas County College in 1970, receiving her LPN degree. She started
working in the burn ward, then ended up working with elderly cancer patients. Later Cindy was
secretary for the Granger Irrigation District for a number of years and babysat. Moving to
Seattle she decided she wanted something different and obtained a job with Beckwith & Kuffel.
She said she loved this job the best.
Being a good mother, she involved herself in her children’s lives during and after school. While
coaching her daughter’s softball team, she met her son’s baseball coach, Kenneth D. Fuerst, at a
Vancouver baseball game. Ken and Cindy were married August 16, 1975, in Portland, Oregon.
They settled down in Vancouver and later moved to Ridgefield to raise their children together.
She never missed one event of any of her children! They moved to Yakima to retire and recently
celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary this past August.
Together they raised their children. Cindy was very involved with school, church and sports,
attending all the kids’ little league, high school, college and other sporting events and activities.
She continued involvement in her grandchildren’s lives as well and had a soft heart and hugs for
her great-grandbabies and any critters. Retirement gave her more time for quilting, knitting,
genealogy, phone calls with family, watching her cooking shows, westerns, hallmark and doing
daily devotionals and watching church sermons with her husband. She was on the Board of
South King County Genealogical Society and librarian and Corresponding Secretary with Yakima
Valley Genealogical Society. She loved her research and was proud of tracing her family back
generations to the Quakers and Ken’s family back to Germany. She was named one of
Washington States Genealogical Society’s Outstanding Volunteer of the year in 2022. A few
highlights were a trip to the archives at Salt Lake City, a trip to the Midwest/Missouri to visit the
Jenkins relation and Ken’s Austrian relatives. She was also able to celebrate her Auntie Evelyn
Fuller’s 100 th birthday this past June along with her and Kenneth’s 50 th Wedding Anniversary. She
was so grateful to celebrate the 50 th Anniversary, following in her parent’s footsteps.
Cindy loved sending out cards to people remembering birthdays and anniversaries and most
cards were signed with "critters" or her pets' names and Ken’s name, too! She loved westerns
on TV and the great love of her life besides Ken was John Wayne. Cindy loved beautiful China
and tea parties enjoying her monthly bible study to set out the dishes.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents George and Shirley Davis and her youngest sister
Deborah Kay Krivanec, her son Scotty John and numerous relatives on the Davis, Scott and
Jenkins families, as well as her in-laws Leonard and Roxine Padgham Fuerst.
She is survived by her loving husband Ken; children Tracy Coleman, Mike Fuerst, Kevin (Kathy)
Fuerst and Kristine Fuerst; her grandchildren Jacob, Annelise, Josef, Michele, D.J. and Clark, as
well as numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Gary (Wynell) Davis
and Chuck (Jeannie) Davis of Wyoming and her special aunt Evelyn Scott Fuller, age 100, and
several cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
If you wish to donate in memory of Cindy, you may make a contribution to Yakima Valley
Genealogical Society or The Yakima Humane Society. A memorial service will be held at the
West Valley Nazarene Church, in Yakima, WA on January 10 th at 1:00 PM. Additionally Family will
