Colleen Leon Bowers SELAH – Colleen Leon Bowers, 75, of Selah, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at home surrounded by her family. Colleen was born April 13, 1930 in LaGrande, OR. She moved to Selah as a young girl. In 1947 she married Odell Bowers. Together they made their home in Yakima, and then Selah. She worked for the Selah Theater, for the Dairy Gold Creamery, and for the Selah Post Office. She found her calling in the early 1970’s when she became employed by the Selah School District as a teacher’s aid at John Campbell Elementary. Colleen was a member of the Selah Elks and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved the outdoors, especially the beach. She enjoyed bike riding and her family. Colleen was a great wife and mother, filling our home with love and kindness. She is survived by her husband, Odell of Selah; two sons, Danny and Doug Bowers, both of Selah; a daughter, Pamela Jane Bowers of Woodinville, WA; a sister, Arlene Helms of Selah; four grandchildren, Christopher, Austin, Nichole, and Jessica; two great-grandchildren; and three nephews, Brad, Troy, and Mark Helms. Many thanks to Dr. Joe Vickers and the Yakima Regional Hospice Staff. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, Yakima.
