Clyde Morris

August 3, 1935 — July 11, 2016

Clyde A Morris, 80, passed peacefully Monday, July 11, 2016 at his home in Grandview. Clyde was born August 3, 1935 in Hayden Lake Idaho, number six of ten children born to Holly and Altha Morris. His early childhood was spent climbing trees, playing good-guy/bad-guy games and running barefoot in the woods with his brothers and sisters. These stories were readily shared and embellished over the years. The family relocated to Grandview where Clyde graduated with the class of 1954. He is remembered as handsome and athletic, an outstanding basketball and football player and Golden Glove boxer. He found a job at Safeway grocery store while in high school and eventually worked his way to manager. He later left the valley for a sheet metal job at Boeing. When he returned to Grandview, he moved into the legendary "Ponderosa" with his brothers Keith and Jim. He went to work at Snokist and soon met Norma Morrow, a pretty, hardworking single mom. They were married in 1968 and soon after Clyde proudly adopted Mike, Becky and Billy. Clyde began his career as an electrician at Davis Electric and retired a well-respected electrical craftsman from Hanford in 1994. The family camped often with McDermott's at Satus Creek, fished with the the Morris clan at Twin Lakes and hunted and fished with the Morrows. Clyde was a great fisherman and fish-story teller. Once, when some fellows in another boat asked for his secret, he easily convinced them he was using tomatoes for bait. Clyde and Norma liked things very tidy and green and he used lots and lots of fertilizer on their beautiful flowers, lawn and giant garden. The grandkids, nieces and nephews remember playing and hunting Easter eggs in the yard and picking out 'punkins' and other fresh goodies from the giant garden. He enjoyed trips to the casino, a game of poker or blitz, Norma's cooking and a tall can of Oly beer. Clyde was generous and witty and loved a good debate. He was especially happy watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities and sports and having all the kids over at Christmas. Visits usually ended with, "Glad you got to see me!" Do not fear for I am with you, do no be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 Clyde is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Sandy Morris, Joy McDermott and her husband Jerry and Sharon Highsmith and her husband Dwight; brothers Kenneth, John and Keith Morris; daughter Pamela Morris; and a son, Clyde (Buzz) Morris Jr. He is survived by his wife, Norma Morris; children Mike (Kim Taylor) Morris of Sunnyside, Becky (Dan) Story of Edmonds, Bill (Kim L.H.) Morris of Richland, Terry Kreitzer and Richard (Rick) Morris both of Colorado; grandchildren Riley (Bethany) Morris, Bailey Morris, Daniel (Shawna) Story, Katie Story, Casey Morris and Corey Morris; and great grandchildren Noah, Graycee and Mercury Clyde Morris. He is also survived by his brothers Gordon Morris of Richland, Don (Donna) Morris of Ellensburg, and Jim (Sharon) Morris of Ridgefield; and sisters-in-law Flo, Margaret, and Bonnie Morris, along with many nieces, nephews and large extended family. At Clyde's request, no funeral services are planned. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Clyde Morris, please visit our flower store.
