Clarence Weron

January 7, 1930 — April 5, 2018

Clarence Weron was born on January 7, 1930, to Madgelena (Nicholaus) and Andrew Weron in Bowdle, South Dakota. That is where he spent his youth and received his early education. He grew up on a family farm with three siblings, and aspired to be a farmer himself. During the Korean war, Clarence served as a Rifleman in the Marine Corps. Following his service, he returned home to Bowdle, considering a career in farming. However, he only stayed in South Dakota long enough to meet and marry his wife of 49 years, Pauline (Binfet). Soon thereafter, they relocated to Grandview to pursue greater opportunities that irrigated agriculture and local industry offered. He worked for a few years on local farms and dairies before moving to construction. Clarence began as a laboror at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. Shortly thereafter, he became a Cement finisher. Clarence mastered his craft after a brief apprenticeship. He was highly regarded for his skill and attention to detail, and soon was eagerly sought after by local homeowners desiring quality work. Those who only knew Clarence professionally may have been surprised to know that he took great pleasure in music and had mastered the accordian. From an early age he eagerly sought to learn the instrument and was soon playing local dances and wedding receptions. Many people in the local German community may have fond memories of Clarence Weron, or his band, Clarence and the Moonlighters, playing his music. Clarence enjoyed his part in the events equally and was glad to be a part of those celebrations. Whether it was his profession, his art, or maintaining his small farm (and later home in town), Clarence strove to live a peaceful, orderly life. Clarence passed on April 4 at his home, being preceded in death by his parents, sister, two brothers, and his wife, Pauline. He is survived by two children, Donna (Satero) Ramos of Moxee, Peter (Tanya) Weron of Grandview, three grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom provided him with treasured memories. There will be a Public Visitation on Wednesday, April 11th at Valley Hills Funeral Chapel in Sunnyside from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Funeral will be on Thursday, April 12th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish in Grandview, Washington - graveside will follow.
