Clara Lessig

November 16, 1981 — April 25, 2024

Clara J. ā€CJā€ Lessig, 42, of Yakima, Washington, passed away with her mother by her side on April 20, 2024, at Cottage in the Meadow. CJ was born on November 16, 1981, in Brewster, Washington to Joseph W. Lessig and Kathy E. Gallentine. CJ as her family and friends called her, attended Running Start at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington and also studied molecular and cell biology at Walla Walla Community College in Walla Walla, Washington. CJ lived and worked in Seattle, Washington for 10 years. CJ worked at Amgem and various positions before becoming disabled. A highlight of CJ was attending Critical Northwest whenever CJ was able to. CJ made leather crafts (purses, wallets, and various art pieces.) CJ loved to garden in which she mostly grew herbs and vegetables. She loved to hike on the coast of the Olympia Peninsula. CJ was an avid SYFY fantasy book reader and collector. She loved oceanography, especially the study of sharks and Cephalopods. CJ loved her Bengal cat Sagira as well as being fond of cats, dogs reptiles' ferrets, birds and most any animal. CJ also enjoyed baking bread which her favorite to bake was sourdough bread. CJ was antiwar, she studied the Constitution and believed in the rights of all people to live in peace (red, yellow, brown, black and White). CJ was also an avid supporter of BLM and LGBT rights. Those left to cherish and honor the memory of CJ is her mother, Kathy Gallentine; her father Joseph Lessig; her grandmother Ann Lessig; her siblings Zach Lessig and his family, Rachel McCarter and her family and Matt McCarter and his children. Her aunt Joanne Long; cousins Chad Long and family, Kristi Long and family; her uncle Richard Gallentine and his children; aunt Lenore Verish (Lessig) and her family. A Celebration of Life for CJ will be held on June 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the SDA Church 415 W 4th Ave Ellensburg, WA 98926.
