Clara Mae Hill, age 88, of Yakima passed away on June 30, 2016 at Cottage in the Meadow with her loving family at her side. She was born on January 23, 1928 in Yakima to the late Jacob Ritter and Elizabeth Sterling Ritter. She is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 9 sisters.
Clara attended Toppenish schools until her senior year, when they moved, graduating from Kelso High School. After high school she met and married the love of her life Carl Hill. They enjoyed 43 years of marriage and had two daughters, Colleen and Carla. They enjoyed travelling together on Sunday’s and spending time with the family.
She worked at JC Penny’s and the Toppenish Post Office prior to opening the 49er Restaurant in Toppenish with her husband. For over 30 years family get togethers were a regular event at the Restaurant. She loved cooking and was famous for her Chow Mein on New Year’s Day. She was a hard worker setting an example for us all. Family was the most important part of her life and she loved cuddling with the grandbabies.
She is survived by her two daughters Colleen Hill and Carla Hibbs; 1 sister Amelia Fletcher; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. We will miss mom/grandma dearly but we all find comfort knowing she is reunited with the love of her life, Carl.
