We celebrate the life of Chester “Mickey” Floyd who now rests in peace on August 11, 2019. Mickey was born to Woodrow and Lorene Floyd on March 5, 1943 at Post 44, Arkansas. Mickey served in the Army from 1965-1970, where he made life long friends. He worked for Burlington Northern for 30+ years. He married Carolyn Eggers in 1969 and had two daughters, Michelle (Shelly) and Heather. He cherished his time with his grandkids, from simple things like brushing their hair and feeding them immense amount of candy to teaching them how to shock worms up for fishing the next day, his joys in life was his family and friends. You could either find him fishing on the river for steelhead or up in the mountains searching for mushrooms on any given day. He especially enjoyed working on his corvette with his youngest grandson Nicholas. He rarely missed a sporting event or special occasion for his daughters and grandchildren. He taught us all the vital life lessons of kindness, love, hard work and compassion. He never passed an opportunity to help another person, whether that person was family, friends or stranger, he always extended a helping hand never expecting anything in return.
Mickey is preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Lorene Floyd, his brother James Floyd, Carolyn Floyd, and daughter Michelle Lantz. Mickey is survived by his daughter Heather Yochum, grandsons, Christopher Lantz, Heath Youchum, Nicholas Yochum, granddaughters Katie Stavig (Kreiter) and Haley Lantz (Alex Purdy), great-grandsons Berrett Stavig and Mickey Purdy, sisters Karen Kreder (Jim), Sandy Phelps (Mike), Gloria McCurley and brother Ron Floyd. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends.
Mickey was a modern day “superman”. His strength, will to live a good life will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, Special Olympics or St. Jude. Dad was very giving and would want any donations to be made to a charity in his memory.
In your daily routine remember to love one another and give a helping hand. Take the time to enjoy life and all its beauty!
