Charles Lockwood

January 25, 1937 — April 6, 2017

Charles (Chuck) Alexander Lockwood, 80, recently began the final leg of life’s journey on April 6, 2017 at 6:50 am. As he departed, a wealth of family and friends wished him safe travels. His wife Carol of almost 30 years who has been his earthly rock and support was there to bid him farewell. His children, Scott, Jill, Robert, Ronald and Laurie and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren remember him fondly. His middle son Todd was awaiting his arrival at his final port of call. His remaining extended family all wish him well to his next destination. Chuck was born in 1937 to Ernest and Iva Lockwood in New York. He lived a simple and meager childhood. His father worked to support the family while his mother nurtured the family; Chuck who was given the family nickname of “Brother”, his older brother James, and his younger brother Glenn. This was during the depression era but they were brought up to be the fine young citizens. Chuck learned a great many things through the educational system and worked mainly through the arts. He was left-handed and that made him think with the right side of his brain. He conquered drafting, general drawing skills, and even became a bit of a painter. As he passed through his formative years and had to start earning his keep he entered into the skilled manual labor force and become a lead forklift operator. Chuck drove forklifts stacking a vast amount of cups, fruit, and other household items for most of his working career. Around his 50th year of employment, he began working within the arts to help less advantaged people take part in sports and general healthy activities and showing them how to be active within our society. This work was within the State Health department. Through his guidance, approximately twenty people became members of our community. People that knew him will remember him for his gentle nature and easy going attitude. He was the person that epitomized the phrase “giving the shirt off his back”. Chuck will be remembered by all the people he touched or came in contact with. He truly never met a stranger. A private ceremony to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
