Charles Russell Hahn, a longtime Yakima resident and beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Friday, February 27 at Holi Senior Living in Hillsboro. Chuck was born on January 31, 1941, to Harold and Mary Hahn in Clinton, Iowa.
Chuck attended ellingham High School, where he met and dated Amber Halley. After graduation, Chuck and Amber married on November 7, 1959.
Chuck began his sales career during his childhood, selling baked goods to neighbors while growing up in Bellingham. He later graduated to selling magazine subscriptions, life insurance and business forms. In his thirties, Chuck opened his own company, Hahn Business Forms. He had a friendly and helpful attitude toward his clients and succeeded beyond what he hoped possible. Chuck was very proud to share his sales expertise and entrepreneurial spirit with his children and grandchildren. Chuck and Amber were active Bridge players and golfers in their younger years.
They also enjoyed going RVing with their friends and grandchildren and spent many winters in southern California or Arizona. Chuck enjoyed hosting family and friends in their home for holidays, birthdays and card games. He and Amber were gracious hosts and extended every kindness to make certain that their guests were comfortable.
Chuck is survived by his children and grandchildren, Michael (Kearcy) Hahn of Bellingham (Dustin Hahn, Gwendolyn Hahn, Miles Hahn), Theresa (Ed) Campbell of Lincoln City, Oregon (Zak Switzer, Ashley Schuknecht), and Richard (Florence) Hahn of Portland, Oregon (Quentin Hahn, Bryce Hahn). He is also survived by his sisters Norma Pagel of Olalla, WA, Janice Worden of Bellingham, WA, Joan (George)
Bladow of Eureka, CA, and LeeAnn Walstrom of Fortuna, CA and his brother, David Hahn of Bellingham, WA. Chuck was also a proud Great-Grandpa to Christian, Courtney and Clementine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Amber, his brothers Wayne Hahn of Bellingham, WA and Jerry Hahn of Carlton, WA and his parents, Harold and Mary Hahn. A Memorial Celebration is planned at Valley Hills Funeral Home, 2600 Business Lane in Yakima on Friday, May 15.
