Oma Charlene Heid – Loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Surrounded by her family Charlene “Seedy” Heid went to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 5th, 2016. Born on September 21, 1943 to Woodrow and Nadine Carrier of Maple Valley, WA. Charlene married the love of her life Floyd, 56 years ago to the day of her passing. They began their family in Zillah, three children, Mark (Cora) Heid, Teresa (Joey) Ross and Tammy (Bill) Smith. They had 10 Grand kids and 10 Great Grand kids.
Charlene worked 37 years for the Zillah School District, 14 years as a cook and the rest as a para educator and substitute teacher. She loved to be with little children and pre-schoolers. The children would walk around at recess holding her hand. When at the store, children would see her and run up and give her big hugs. She was very loved by all.
Charlene and Floyd lived all their lives in Zillah. She loved to go camping, looking for mushrooms, fishing and her annual trips to the beach with her sister Cheri. She spent her life giving back to the town she loved. She viewed the entire staff at the school as her extended family. Her infection laugh and warm heart made it possible for her to get along with people of all ages. Whether tending to an injured child beneath the monkey bars, taking the motherly approach to ensure every kid had their warm gear on during winter, making sure her finger nails were always polished with the current holiday, as the kids always expected. Charlene has inspired thousands of children throughout Zillah for nearly four decades. She will be missed by all that knew her.
She loved her pets and was always attending her children and grandchildren’s many assorted activities.
She passed away due to a bite from a mosquito, giving her the “West Nile Virus”. She was confined to bed for 72 days.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter (Ella).
Funeral memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Zillah Nazarene Church. All flowers, cards and condolences may sent to the Nazarene Church. There will be a celebration of life reception following at the Hilton Elementary Cafateria.
