Carolyn Jean (Watson) Brown passed away on February 11, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on December 16, 1939, in Yakima, Washington to Doris Mae Watson and George Arthur Watson.
During her childhood, Carolyn lived with her parents and sister Ann in logging camps at Oak Creek, Easton and a home in Naches. She loved to visit her favorite aunt and uncle, Joe and Jessie DuBuc at their summer cabin at Rimrock Lake. Carolyn spent much time with her favorite cousin, Delores Ward.
1n 1957, while working as a waitress at the Highway Café in Naches, Carolyn met a young man working at the gas station there. Carolyn would later marry that young man, Earl Coleman Brown. Carolyn and Earl have three sons: Michael (Mick) Brown, Bryan Brown, and Alan Brown. They lived with their sons at Ranger Stations on Chinook and White Pass, and homes in Naches and Gleed.
Carolyn Brown became a dental assistant in 1968. She worked with many dentists in Naches and Yakima over the next 24 years. She was always a devoted wife and mother.
After retirement, Carolyn and Earl moved to Selah. They enjoyed camping and fishing with their friends Gale and Carrol Grow. Carolyn and Earl traveled in their RV to National Parks and Disneyland. When their sons were grown and had families of their own, Carolyn and Earl were always there to help out. They cared for their grandchildren and helped many family members.
Carolyn Brown loved to crochet Afghan blankets and doilies. All of her family members have at least one of her blankets and many have received doilies as Christmas presents. Carolyn loved to garden and was an excellent cook. She loved her many dogs, especially Rosie.
When Earl’s need for dementia care separated them a few years ago, Carolyn and Earl never stopped loving each other. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary together just a few weeks ago. Carolyn recently commented that she “felt very lucky to have been married to Earl Brown”.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her younger brother Mickey Lee Watson, mother Doris, Father George, and sister Ann. Carolyn is survived by husband Earl, sons Michael (Mary), Bryan (Debbie), and Alan. She is also survived by grandchildren Lindsay, Matthew (Amanda), and Danny (Kristen), great-grandchildren; Jace, Liam, Elijah, Genevieve, Mason, Deklin, and Atlas.
A celebration of life ceremony followed by a reception will be held at 11:30 on March 1, 2025, at Valley Hills Funeral Home, 2600 Business Lane, Yakima 98901.
