Gertrude Carollea Wentz, 88, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, in Toppenish, Washington. Born on June 23, 1936, in Lexington, Nebraska, she lived a life marked by deep faith, community service, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Carollee was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and played an active role in the parish community at St. Aloysius Church in Toppenish. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her long-standing involvement with the St. Helen's Guild, where she lovingly prepared meals for funerals and church events. She also served on the church’s social committee, contributing her time and energy to bring people together in fellowship.
Her dedication to service extended far beyond the church walls. Carollee was a familiar face at numerous community events and charitable efforts throughout Toppenish. She participated in W.S.F.S., supported the National Night Out program for over two decades—earning recognition for her 20 years of service—and contributed to initiatives such as making pies for Whistlestop , St. Jude's Bike-A-Thon, and the Toys for Tots toy drive. She also found joy in delivering gifts to local nursing homes, spreading warmth and kindness wherever she went.
Family was at the heart of Carollee’s life. She was a loving mother to her children: James Wentz Jr. (married to Janice) of Moxee, WA; William “Bill” Wentz (married to Angy) of Zillah, WA; Gary Wentz (married to Colleen) of White Swan, WA; and Cheryl Menard Wentz of Toppenish, WA. She was also a devoted sister to her siblings who shared many cherished memories and moments with her throughout the years. Her legacy continues through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were blessed by her love and guidance.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James S. Wentz; her daughter Elaine Hall; grandson Anthony Menard Wentz; and her parents.
Throughout her life, Gertrude embodied compassion and generosity. Whether through a warm meal shared at a church gathering or a pie baked for a community fundraiser, she gave selflessly from the heart. Her presence brought comfort and joy to those around her.
Gertrude Carollea Wentz will be remembered not only for her tireless service but also for the love she poured into every aspect of her life. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and cherished her. A Inurnment will be held on June 23, 2025, from 11:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery 530 Elmwood Rd.
