Carol Ann Wane, age 79, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, in Zillah, Washington. Born on July 7, 1946, in Yakima, Washington, Carol lived a life rooted in faith, family, and community.
Carol met her beloved husband Jim while attending Yakima Valley College. It was a blind date that lasted 60 wonderful years. Carol enjoyed traveling the world in service of the US Army. Two of her favorite places were living in Bavaria, Germany followed by the friendliness and hospitality of Louisiana. Carol enjoyed cooking and collected many recipes from different cultures that she has shared. Carol had a gift of compassionate love for all people regardless of who they were. She never had to seek friends; people just came to her and Carol would listen, comfort, and help them.
Starting out as a soda jerk, then retail sales, to cook and chef in Louisiana. Returning to Zillah, she worked in the Elementary School cafeteria then operated her beloved Carol’s Café where her personal standards were to provide meals that Ferge customers would approve of.
Carol’s devotion extended far beyond the kitchen. She was involved in her community serving on the Zillah Planning Committee. She cherished time spent painting, cooking, and golfing with her family. Her sense of humor brightened every room she entered, and her unwavering faith guided her daily walk with the Lord. She shared God’s love generously with those around her and continually sought to strengthen her spiritual journey.
Carol is lovingly remembered by her husband Jim; sons Jeff (Melissa), Jason (Clara), and Michael (Rae-Ann); grandchildren Todd, Coleen, and Michael, daughter-in-law Tammy; sisters Kathy (Derek) and Janice (Xander); as well as many nephews and nieces including Kristina and Kamri, and great-niece Ali. She was preceded in death by her son Walter and her parents, Robert and Hazel Richards.
Her legacy lives on through the meals she shared, the laughter she inspired, the faith she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held on September 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Zillah Cemetery, 100 First Avenue, Zillah, WA.
