Carol Christine “Tena” St George
Tena was born in Aberdeen, Washington on May 2, 1940. She married her husband, Delmar “Del” St George on February 19, 1966. Del; her parents, Elizabeth “Dud” and Oscar Nermo; and sisters Nora Metzker and Sue Kopp preceded her in death. Tena is survived by one brother-in-law, John Kopp. While we miss her greatly, we know that she is at peace, no longer in pain, and in the comforting arms of our Lord.
Tena moved to Lateral B Road in Wapato, Washington after marrying Del. Tena brought with her a son (Kelly Butz, wife Terri) and two daughters (Carol Monholland, husband Troy and Laura Ortega, husband Luis) from a previous marriage to Ted Butz Jr. Del had a son (Loren St George) and two daughters (Adele St George and Teresa Kelsch) from his previous marriage. After marrying Del, they had a daughter (Ruth Beeson, husband Michael) and son (Ed St George).
Tena had many missions and wore various hats during her life on this earth. She had a strong will and work ethic that she instilled upon her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as others around her. She was a wonderful caregiver, more concerned about others than herself. Other than watching football, one of her passions was cooking. She enjoyed keeping the family well fed as well as others that would come to the house for visits. She babysat many of the neighborhood children during the summers and after school, feeding and caring for all that entered our home. Her love of flowers and plants found her working at the Briar Patch in Wapato which brought her many joyful years and allowed her creativity to be seen by many. She cooked special dinners at the American Legion in Wapato and was the main cook for the Wapato Senior Center where she took care of her “seniors” who came to the center and those participating in the Meals on Wheels program while being a senior herself. She held multiple positions for the American Legion Auxiliary in Wapato in her over 50 years of membership, including Unit President for multiple years and 6th District Auxiliary President. She loved playing cards with friends and family. Before her hands and wrists became overrun by arthritis, she loved to crochet afghans for everyone in the family.
Tena’s grandchildren include: Ashley Butz; Brionna Butz, husband Scott Parmely; Kaylee Butz; Elizabeth Salmeron, husband Omar; Kelleigh Ortega; Chris Ortega, wife Janie; Samantha Ortega; Sara Lutz, husband Kevin; Taylor Beeson, wife Kaitlyn; Thomas Beeson; Danny Beeson; Joseph St George; Corina LaMay, husband Mason; and Dustin Kelsch. Tena’s great grandchildren include: Emma Salmeron, Wyatt Ortega, Damon Lutz, Brinley Beeson and Jackson LaMay. Tena also has left many nieces, nephews, friends and their families.
