Carl Lewis

Carl Damon Lewis - Elit Palma - Kil-loush - aged 61, was born February 16, 1963 in Toppenish, WA. Passed June 11, 2024 in Portland, Oregon. He grew up in the Yakima Valley with his family. He was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. He met Christine Satanus Lewis and married her in Yakima in March 1981. They had two children, Trisha Kramer of Iowa and Amanda Lewis of The Dalles, Oregon. He also has a son Vincent Lewis of Alaska. His grandchildren are Andrew, JT and Danielle Kramer of Iowa. Carl began working in The Dalles at the Oregon Cherry Growers in 1981. He worked as a general labor worker and then a forklift driver until he retired in 2014. He also was a coach for his daughters' teams while they grew up. Carl grew up traveling to powwows across the US and Canada. He sang with his uncles and brother growing up and was a part of the drums “Little Solder Singers”, “Bull Child Singers” and he sang with Sonny Mosquedo. He was a member of the Dalles Moose Lodge. Carl loved to play pool, and dance, he was called the disco king in his youth. He liked to watch tv and his favorite were game shows, football and judge judy. He loved his scratch tickets. In his young age he loved being in the mountains and hunting with his family. Survived by his siblings Constance Jim, Sandra Jim, Jeanne Smiskin (Harry), Glen Lewis. Numerous Nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mother Anita S. Lewis. Grandparents Charlie and Bessie Sampson. Brothers Carter “Herbie” Jim and William “Buffy” Lewis Jr. Uncles Gary Sampson and Elliott Sampson. His adopted brother Squid. Grandsons Eric Pebeahsy and Tyson Wahchumwa. Nephew Frank Harry Jim. Mother-in-law Janice Farmer Satanus and brother-in-laws Roger and Clifford Satanus.
