Carl Wenfort Hemby was born April 20, 1931 in Washington, North Carolina to John and Mamie Roberson Hemby. He passed from his earthly life on Saturday, November 21, 2015 in Yakima, Washington. He attended grade schools in Brooklyn, New York and after high school graduation he enlisted in the military by signing on with the United States Air Force from August 1951 through August 1971.
Carl was a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Yakima, WA for many years and always looked forward to Sunday worship and Wednesday bible study and prayer. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Vets, and International Footprint Association. He was loyal and generous and cared lovingly for his family and many, many friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory devoted wife, Deborah Madere Hemby; daughters, Cynthia Hemby Willis(Allen Willis, Sr.) and Benita M. Donaldson of San Bernadino , CA; brothers, William Chapman and Angelo White of Baltimore, MD; DeWitt White and sister Agnes Johnson of Eastern Shore, VA; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 from 4-7pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 at noon at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church(1302 S. 8th St.) in Yakima. Interment will be held with full military honors at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California at 2:00pm on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015.
