With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bryan Ernest Dean Barry. Bryan was born on February 24, 1977, in Killeen, Texas. Bryan, a dedicated family man, a distinguished military veteran, and a devoted friend to many. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Bryan grew up in Wapato, Washington with his four siblings. He later found his forever home with Frank and Lila Rose, gaining numerous foster siblings along the way. He graduated from East Valley High School in Yakima, in 1995. He then earned his BA in Accounting from Central Washington University. He worked for Zirkle Fruit, in the accounting department for 15 years.
Bryan served in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Where he traveled the world and made memories with his companions in the service.
After his military service he met Jessica and were wed in January of 2002 in Las Vegas, Nevada— a place that held a special significance in their hearts.
Bryan was a devoted father to Emilie, Bryana, and Tyler. Family meant everything to Bryan, and his role as a husband and father was one, he cherished above all else. His children, Emilie, Bryana, and Tyler were his greatest joy and the center of his world. Bryan's impact extended beyond his immediate family, as he played a significant role in raising his sister-in-law Sammy during her teen years.
Bryan enjoyed attending his kids' sporting events, sharing his passion for Star Wars, he was a movie and sitcom guru, he loved playing video games and collecting Legos. His warmth, sarcastic wit, and humor for life were evident in every interaction. He was often referred to as "Survival Steve" by those who knew him well, always ready to face the unexpected challenges life might bring. His moto was “You make fun now, but when we need it, you’ll thank me”.
Bryan enjoyed making jokes with his "Sweetie Pie" nephew Nikalai and looked forward to his weekly Bi Mart trips with his niece Kat.
Those fortunate enough to come into contact with Bryan were easily able to create lasting memories. He enjoyed spending time with his group of friends, camping, and passionately cheering on his kids' sports teams. Bryan earned the nickname “animal whisperer”. He adored all his pets, including Lilly, Monkey, Jackie, and Millie, as well as his grand animals, Cooper, Olive, Moon, Nova, Biscuit, and the neighborhood cat Banjo.
Bryan is survived by his wife Jessica, children Emilie (Justin), Bryana, and Tyler, as well as his brothers Phillip and Joseph, sisters Keasha Soule and Shandra Monroe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bryan was preceded in death by his Foster Parents Frank and Lila Rose, and Grandma June Grajeda. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bryan's honor to the Headstrong Project, an organization dedicated to providing mental health support to veterans. May he rest in peace, and may his legacy of love, laughter, and preparedness continue to inspire us all.
Services will be held at Valley Hills Funeral Home (2600 Business Lane) on February 2nd at 1pm. A reception will follow at the Terrace Heights Grange (3701 W Birchfield Rd). Visitation will be held on January 31st from 5pm to 7pm.
For those attending the reception, to honor Bryan we hope that you will each join us in wearing a funny graphic tee and flannel, Bryan’s favorite attire.
