Bob Burton graduated from this life to his heavenly home on December 7, 2024. Bob was born in Prosser Washington on June 17, 1937 and was the eighth child of nine children born to Oscar and Emmalissa Burton. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ila, Marjorie, Bettie and Merle, and brothers Bill, Gene, Oscar, and Vernon. He lived in many locations on the west coast with his migratory family and settled in Yakima while in high school where he attended Yakima High (Davis). He joined the Marine Corps before graduating his senior year and served a three-year tour.
He met Carol Boster from Moxee Washington while on leave in Yakima and they married after completing his service on January 28th, 1960. Bob and Carol had three children, Mike, Laurie and Mark and lived in West valley of Yakima. His wife Carol and daughter Laurie preceded him in death in 1993 and 2003. Mark, his wife Julie and their family still live in Yakima. Mike, wife Toni, and their family in Oregon and Ohio.
Bob started two successful businesses through sheer grit and determination to support his family and was great at working with people and clients. His second business continues to operate with his son Mark leading the business and three family members poised to continue with many dedicated employees. He usually made it to ball games, concerts, and recitals…sometimes singing with his kids. Bob had a good tenor voice and brought the love of music to his family. He loved to hunt, fish, and pack horses in the mountains and passed on that love to his sons.
Bob married Betty Mutch in 1994 following the deaths of each of their spouses. The Mutch family includes Rod and Linda and their family, as well as Rick and his wife Linda, with their family, who live in Yakima and Auburn. Randy, wife Karen, and their family live in Washington and Idaho. The Burton’s and Mutch’s had grown up together prior to their parent’s death’s and were happy to see Bob and Betty marry and have enjoyed many years as a blended family in Christ.
Bob and Betty have five sons and daughters-in-law, as well as one daughter and son-in-law (both deceased). They have 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Nephew Jeff Treise is also a close Brother/Nephew to the family.
Bob and Betty are members of Stone Church and have served as youth leader, bus driver, senior group leader, and sang in the choir. Bob was committed to Jesus Christ as savior and sought to serve Him in any way he was able. He had many life long friends that will miss him and his tenor voice.
The public viewing will be Monday, December 16, at 5-7pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. His memorial service is on December 17, at 11AM at Stone Church 3303 Englewood Ave. Yakima. There is a luncheon to follow with a graveside service at 2PM West Hills Memorial Gardens.
