Blas Cantu Jr. was born January 29, 1948 in Mission Texas to Blas and Felipa Cantu. He moved to Grandview in 1964 with his family. Blas fought cancer until his last breath, which was October 23, 2016. He married the love of his life, Connie on February 28, 1968. They built a life together in Grandview for 48 years and raised 4 children.
Blas loved spending time with his kids and grand kids along with his extended family. He loved to go fishing, especially with one of his sons. He really loved visiting with his kids on the phone and could spend many hours with them this way. He enjoyed going to the casino and making tamales with his wife. Blas made the best zucchini bread ever. He loved being outside gardening or just walking around the back yard.
Blas is preceded in death by his parents Blas and Felipa Cantu and his sister Yolanda Cantu.
He is survived by his wife; Connie, daughter; Tonie Cantu, granddaughter; Lily Cantu, Sons; J. Blas (Kristi) Cantu and grand children Kaleb and Emma Cantu, Miguel (Keri) Cantu, and Raymond Cantu, Brothers; Jesus Rodriguez and Oscar Rodriguez, Sisters; Irma (Luis) Mata, Sonia Cantu, and Becky Cantu.
A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, November 5, 2016 at The Grandview Christian Church on the corner of Euclid and W 4th Street in Grandview. A reception/potluck will be held immediately after. The Family wishes to give a big thank you to North Star and Virginia Mason for the loving care to Blas and the support to the Family in their time of need.
