Obituary

Billie Browning passed away on July 15th, 2026. She was 91. Billie was born in Peshastin, WA to Bill and Dorothy Colvard on December 27, 1934. She moved to Yakima with her family when she was twelve, and attended Franklin Junior High and Yakima High School.

She was known for her wicked sense of humor and creativity. She was the life of the party at extended family gatherings and loved hosting holiday celebrations. She worked as a teller and loan officer at Yakima Federal S&L for 35 years. She loved spending time with the most important people in her life, her daughter Debbie and son Bill, and enjoyed every chance she had to spend with her sister and brother and their families. She painted ceramics and dabbled in writing original screenplays. She was a voracious reader, which stood her in good stead when her eyesight deteriorated and she started watching game shows on TV. She was in her seventies when she took up online gaming, and by the time she was in her eighties had gained an online family and was considered as the “gaming grama” by the only grandchildren she would have. She loved fly fishing and fished local rivers and lakes into her 50’s.

Billie is survived by her daughter Debbie and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Miriam, her brother Jim, and her son Bill.

Her friends and family will celebrate her life at a later date and place, to be determined. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to MultiCare Hospice for their compassionate care during Billie’s last days. In lieu of flowers, it would make Billie happy if a donation was made to your local animal shelter.
