Beverly Jean (Krieger) Loges, 84, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
Beverly was born August 11, 1931 in Yakima Washington to William and Rose (Freauf) Krieger. She attended school in the Cowiche area. While attending Highland High School, she met the love of her life, Paul Loges. After graduating, Paul joined the United States Air Force and they were married October 18, 1950. Beverly joined him at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Their first child, Karen Christine, was born while they were in Oklahoma. In 1954, Paul was discharged from the Air Force and they returned to Yakima. They settled down in the Cowiche area where their son, William Stephen was born. Beverly stayed home raising their children. They moved to the West Valley area and their third child, Pamela Colleen, was born in 1958. Their fourth child, Denise Renee, was born in 1962.
Beverly worked briefly at various fruit warehouses as a packer. As the children got older, she went to work at J. C. Pennys. She was always there for her children. Before the birth of their third child, Beverly decided it was time to learn to drive. With two small children in the backseat, Paul took her on the backroads in Cowiche to teach her to drive. She was never a great driver choosing to drive with one foot on the brake and one on the gas.
While Colleen and Denise were still at home, they bought an apple orchard on Naches Heights. Paul continued working in construction and together they managed the orchard. When it became too much they sold the orchard and moved to Selah. They lived in Selah until Paul’s health started to fail and they moved to Yakima.
Beverly and Paul enjoyed bowling with many nights spent at the Eagle Lanes. There they made lifelong friends. Together they enjoyed boating (even though she didn’t like getting in and riding in the boat), fishing and camping. She especially enjoyed the family camping trips to Riffe Lake. During the summers you would find them boating, fishing and waterskiing at O’Sullivan.
Beverly enjoyed cooking and her special pizza was loved by all, as were her cream pies. With a big heart, her home was always open to anyone.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important to her. Paul and Bev would travel the state to watch their grandchildren participate in their activities. Once the great grandchildren came along they again traveled the state watching them. The weekends were devoted to their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After Paul’s death in 2012, Beverly moved to the Ponderosa. There she meet and developed new friendships. Here she found a new hobby of creating some beautiful artwork using colored pencils.
Beverly was an amazing woman, wife, father, grandfather, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be missed by many people.
