Betty Sandifer, age 88, of Yakima passed away on September 18, 2016. She was born October 18, 1927 in Wapato, Washington to the late Nealey E. Bennett and Estella Baker. In 1940 she met the love of her life, Kenneth Sandifer. They were happily married just shy of 72 years.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She received her cosmetology license in 1959, started her own salon and made it her passion in life. Just having a salon wasn’t enough, she wanted to give more and so in May of 1980, she started Professional Beauty School. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, teaching, traveling and the great outdoors.
Betty is survived by her grandchildren: Vicki Schroeder and David Devereaux; great-grandchildren: Chris Pessemier, Dillon Schroeder, Dayna Devereaux, Marshal Schroeder; great-great-grandchild, Chanell Pessemier; siblings: Ione Speer, Jerry Bennett, Wes Bennett Sr., and Ken Bennett.
Special thanks to Norma Evans and the Cottage in the Meadow and staff.
Public viewing will be from 2:00 – 5:00 pm, Friday, September 30, 2016 at Valley Hills Funeral Home (2600 Business Ln., Yakima). Private family funeral will be held with burial at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
