July 10, 1924 — September 9, 2015

Betty Francis Deason, 91, passed away on September 9, 2015, at Hospice House at the Chaplaincy in Kennewick, WA from an extended illness. Betty was born July 10, 1924 in Yakima, Washington to Cecil and Rowena (Bragg) Kincaid. As a young girl, she remained in the valley where she picked strawberries and hops to help out her family. At the age of sixteen, she met a very tall and lanky Tom Deason and at the age of eighteen they were married on October 14, 1942. They were happily married for 71 years. They remained in Yakima where Tom moved houses until joining the Navy in 1943 to serve in World War II. During this time, their only child, a daughter was born on April 16, 1944. Betty followed Tom working construction until 1953 when they returned to Selah and Tom started his own taping and painting business. During this time Betty decided to go to work. She learned how to pack fruit and along with her mother and sister she worked for Earl Norberg for many years and finally for Zirkle Fruit in Selah. She packed for 25 to 30 years until they both retired and move to Northport, Washington. There they lived on the river where they hunted and fished. Betty was known to bring down an Elk or two in her day. Due to health reasons they sold their land and returned to Yakima until Tom passed away on May 4, 2014. At which time Betty moved to Pasco, Washington to live with her daughter. Betty is survived by a sister, Mary (Ron) Jagow, Yakima, WA, a daughter, Karen (Ron) Schmidt, Pasco, WA, granddaughter Michele (Joe) Jensen, Pasco, WA, grandson Darren Lowry, Palmer, AK, great granddaughters Dariane Diener, Richland, WA, Natasha Jensen, Pasco, WA, and Riley Morton Lowry, Palmer, AK, and a great, great grandson, Cylas Olsen, Richland, WA.
